A freelance ecologist, writer and birding and wildlife tour-leader, originally from the UK, but now living in northern Peru. He has previously lived in Ecuador for five years and is author of four books on the region including: A Guide to Bird-watching in Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands and Treasures of the Forgotten Forests. He is currently working on a Field Guide to the Mammals of South America. He has worked for various conservation organisations including BirdLife International, the Wildlife Conservation Society and Conservation International, and currently works with a local conservation organisation, Asociacion Naymlap, undertaking conservation and research work in the dry forests of northern Peru.
